About Council Meetings

Council Meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 9:00 a.m. in person at the Mayo Community Centre, 66 Mayo Lake Rd. McArthurs Mills, ON. If there is a change in date or time a Notice will be advertised on the Township website.

Members of the public are welcome to attend Council Meetings (excluding In-Camera Sessions) however, only person(s) with delegation status are permitted to speak or address Council when meetings are in session.


If an individual(s) would like delegation status for a Council Meeting they must contact the CAO/Clerk. All documents related to the delegation status must be submitted to the CAO/Clerk no later than 12:00 noon on the Wednesday prior to the Council Meeting date. This allows Council members time to review all documents before Council Meeting.

What is an In-Camera Session?

Municipal Councils, must meet behind closed doors on occasion to deal with certain matters. For example, if a municipality is being sued or dealing with a labour relations issue, then it is appropriate that they be able to do so at an In-Camera Session.

  • Code of Conduct and Integrity Commissioner

    The Code of Conduct sets minimum standards for the behaviour of Council Members in the performance and discharge of official functions and duties. It has been developed to assist Council to:

    • Understand the standards of conduct that are expected of them and the law that applies in relation to these standards;
    • Fulfill their duty to act honestly and exercise reasonable care and diligence;
    • Act in a way that enhances public confidence in local government; and
    • Identify and resolve situations which might involve a potential misuse of position and authority.

    The Integrity Commissioner’s responsibilities include:

    • Conduct inquiries upon complaint for Municipal Conflict of Interest Act and Code of Conduct matters;
    • Provide advice to members of Council and local boards regarding their obligations under the code of conduct the Municipal Conflict of Interest Act;
    • Provide educational information to the public, the municipality and members of Council and local boards about the Code of Conduct and Municipal Conflict of Interest Act;
    • The duties and responsibilities of the Integrity Commissioner are further detailed in Section 223 of the Municipal Act, 2001.

    It is the responsibility of the Integrity Commissioner to report directly to the Municipal Council.
